AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn adds another talented piece to it's QB room.
Former professional baseball player Cord Sandberg commits to the Tigers, announcing his decision on Twitter:
Sandberg will join Auburn later this week for the start of fall practice.
The 23-year old quarterback was rated as a four-star prospect in 2012. He signed with Mississippi State after high school, but decided to pursue baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies. His father, Ryne Sandberg was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
The younger Sandberg spent six seasons in the minor leagues, with a career average of .243
Cord Sandberg will have five years to play four seasons of football at Auburn.
