Springville softball finished what it started on Saturday.

The Tigers won the Class 5A state title for the third straight year with a 2-0 win over Scottsboro. The championship game started in Montgomery on Saturday, but was interrupted by rain with Springville leading 1-0 in the third inning. Play resumed Monday in Oxford.

Springville added an insurance run in the seventh inning and left the rest to pitcher Abby Swaney. She pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight.

Swaney's father passed away last summer after suffering a heart attack. Her Dad was a huge Tennessee fan and the Tigers team has been wearing orange ribbons in their hair to support the pitcher.

"They have just really had my back this past year," Swaney said. "They've just helped me push through this hard time. I just can't thank them enough for that. My coaches, my family, my teammates especially they've all been there through this. They know how hard it is and I just can't thank them enough for having my back through this"
