Barons Eloy Jimenez ready to take his swing at Region Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Eloy Jimenez, the No. 1 prospect in the Chicago White Sox organization, is in the starting line-up for the Birmingham Barons game with Biloxi on Thursday.
It's the first home game of the season for Jimenez, who missed the start of the season with an strained pectoral muscle.
Jimenez joined the Barons last week on the teams road trip to Jackson (Miss) and Pensacola (Fla), getting four hits in 24 at-bats. But two of those were long home runs and only three did he fail to put the ball "in-play".
"The hits. they come. they're gonna come," Eloy Jimenez said. "I'm feeling pretty good, pretty confident at the plate. I see the ball well. That's all I need to have right now."
Jimenez played 18 games with the Barons at the end of last season, six at home. He finished with three home runs at "spacious" Regions Field in that final stretch.
