Scott Parel plays his way into the mix at the Regions Tradition

Scott Parel finished tied for second at the Regions Tradition, shooting 15 under par over the four day tournament (

The final group for Sunday's finish at the Regions Tradition included Fred Funk and Bernhard Langer, who have 133 professional victories on tour.

Then there's Scott Parel, who has only career win came on the Tour back in 2013.

Parel went to the University of Georgia, did not play college golf, in fact he spent 10 years as a computer programmer and database adminstrator before turning pro back in 1996.

"I had a pretty good idea of my game, how it would be out here," Parel said. "If I play well I think I have a chance to contend."

"He drives it out there really far, he's got a nice liitle draw, he's got a good short game," Scott McCarron said. "He's a really good player. It's like where's he been for the last 30 years."

"I mean to win any tournament would be obviously terrific," Parel said. "But a major, for that to be my first one, that's very special obviously."
