Nick Saban offseason advice for QBs: 'they need to win the team'

Alabama's Nick Saban wants his quarterbacks to maintain their focus throughout the offseason (

There is no offseason when it comes to the topic of "quarterback".

Alabama did not name a starter following spring practice, and coach Nick Saban does not sound like he is in a rush to choose a clear and defined "QB1". Saban expects the competition between Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa to work itself out naturally. He says 'trust' is the number one factor.

Nick Saban spoke with reporters before the 12th annual Nick's Kids Golf Tournament, which took place last week at Old Overton Golf Club in Birmingham.

"They need to win the team. That's what they need to do," Saban said at his Nick's Kids Golf Tournament in Birmingham. "The best way for them to do that is to stay focused on what they need to do. Anything they do that brings less attention to themselves probably erodes the ability for that to happen. So I'd appreciate your help in just allowing it to happen. Because it's not gonna happen any faster. You're not gonna make it happen faster."
