Patrick Thomas is happy to be back in Birmingham as a MMJ for ABC 33/40. The Gadsden native began his broadcasting career in Bangor, Maine at WFVX/WVII, where he gained experience as an anchor and a reporter.
His coverage of a fire in rural Maine amid the threat of a fire department shutdown earned him a 2015 Maine Association of Broadcasters award for Best Spot News.
Prior to his time in the Pine Tree State, he attended the Boston University College of Communication and earned a Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism. While at BU he won an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for his work on the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination. His internships and coursework during graduate school also put him side-by-side with other TV news professionals throughout the Boston Marathon bombings.
Patrick is no stranger to the Magic City. He was a four-year letterman in football at Birmingham-Southern College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He also did his internship here at ABC 33/40.
